A fantastic collection of eight vintage Hardy Boys mystery novels by Franklin W. Dixon, published by Grosset & Dunlap in New York. These books feature the distinctive brown bindings. All eight books measure 5 x 7.75 inches and contain more than 200 pages each. Two volumes, The Secret Panel and While the Clock Ticked, retain their original dust jackets. The books range from fair to great vintage condition, with signs of age and previous use appropriate to their age.
The Hardy Boys series was created through the Stratemeyer Syndicate, with Franklin W. Dixon serving as a house pseudonym rather than representing a single author. Canadian writer Leslie McFarlane wrote many of the earliest volumes, including The Tower Treasure, The Mystery of Cabin Island, While the Clock Ticked, and Footprints Under the Window.
These books were originally written for school-age boys and young readers, particularly children who enjoyed adventure, mystery, suspense, and stories featuring clever young detectives. The Hardy Boys became beloved for their fast-paced plots, daring investigations, and the independence and resourcefulness of brothers Frank and Joe Hardy. Today, they appeal not only to young readers but also to adult collectors of vintage children’s literature, fans of classic mystery fiction, nostalgia collectors, and anyone who grew up reading the Hardy Boys.
This collection includes eight titles:
The Tower Treasure — 1927
The Mystery of Cabin Island — 1929
While the Clock Ticked — 1932
Footprints Under the Window — 1933
The Wailing Siren Mystery — 1951
The Crisscross Shadow — 1953
The Yellow Feather Mystery — 1953
