This is a beautiful set of four antique and early vintage books featuring coordinated green covers with decorative green and red spine detailing. These books display wonderfully together as a cohesive decorative shelf set, perfect for Victorian-style home décor, library styling, or antique book displays.

Included in this set are Tom Temple’s Career by Horatio Alger Jr., published by A. L. Burt in New York in 1888; Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster, published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1912; Essays of Elia by Charles Lamb, an 1890s “Sanspareil Series” decorative reprint edition (a popular late 19th-century illustrated reprint series issued in New York); and Notable Events of the Nineteenth Century compiled and edited by John Clark Ridpath, published by The Christian Herald in New York in 1896.

Together, these volumes reflect a mix of popular fiction, essays, and historical reference works from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Alger and Webster titles represent classic American and British literary fiction of the period, while Lamb’s essays offer timeless literary reflections, and Ridpath’s work provides a broad historical overview of major 19th-century events.

The books vary in size, with the largest measuring approximately 5.25” x 7.5” and the smallest approximately 4” x 6”. They display beautifully as a matched-toned set with coordinating green spines and aged decorative styling.

All four books are in good to great antique condition, with normal wear consistent with age. The covers remain attractive and intact, and the bindings are solid. These are ideal for styling rather than reading use, and they make a striking addition to bookshelves, mantels, or staged interiors.
