A fully bound volume containing all 52 weekly issues from 1892 of The Youth’s Companion, one of the most widely read American periodicals of the 19th century. This is the historically important year in which the magazine introduced The Pledge of Allegiance and led the nationwide flag campaign for the 1892 Columbus Day School Celebration.

The volume is packed with illustrated fiction, travel pieces, science articles, moral stories, puzzles, household advice, and period advertising—an excellent window into American family and youth life in the early 1890s. A scarce and desirable annual, especially sought after because of the Pledge of Allegiance issue. You can see Morgan H. Stafford of East Ohio St. was the subscriber of these copies.

This bound volume measures 11.5” x 16”.  Its cover is a lovely green with blue marbling.  Its hows some age and wear, though the interior is in great condition.
