A substantial 1977 Classic Collector’s Edition of Gray’s Anatomy, formally titled Anatomy, Descriptive and Surgical by Henry Gray, F.R.S.

This edition was published by Bounty Books in New York as a revised American edition from the 15th English edition, with the text edited by T. Pickering Pick, F.R.C.S. and Robert Howden, M.A., M.B., C.M., and a new introduction by John A. Crocco, M.D. The edition reproduces the famous anatomy text that became known simply as Gray’s Anatomy, first published in the 19th century and subsequently revised through numerous English editions. This particular 1977 edition is the classic collector’s version and includes an index.

The book is packed with anatomical material and contains 780 illustrations, 172 of them in full color. The illustrations range from detailed depictions of bones, muscles, organs, blood vessels and nerves to the kind of finely labeled anatomical plates that have long been associated with Gray’s Anatomy. It is an unusually substantial volume at 1,257 pages, measuring 6.25” x 9.5”.
