This is the complete set of nine volumes of The Plays of William Shakspeare. The spelling of “Shakspeare” reflects the inconsistent spelling practices of the time. The nine volumes were published between 1810 and 1812 by Monroe & Francis of Boston. In 1834, the set belonged to Henry Williams Jr. of Harvard College. Each volume contains minimal etchings. This set is in very delicate condition as it is over 210 years old. The books are missing parts of their spines, pages are stained with age, and sections of some volumes have separated from the binding. I used the books as decor for several years. The books measure 4.75” x 7.75” and contain approximately 500 pages each.
